Join CASA of Ellis County, The Avenue Church and Interchange for the third annual Candlelight Vigil to commemorate Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The event will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at The Avenue Church pond. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held on the covered patio of the church. The Department of Family Protective Services reports that almost every 9 minutes, a child somewhere in Texas becomes a victim of abuse or neglect, which averages 160 children on a daily basis, with 54% of victims under the age of six years old. Each year, CASA of Ellis County serves approximately 150 children in the foster care system with 75 trained volunteers. Please join us to show your support of these precious children and help bring more awareness to the victims of abuse and neglect.
