The Great Inclusion Race & Party in the Park
This Event is intended to cultivate Community awareness and inclusion for differently abled community in this area. The event will commence at the Midlothian Community Park. This event will host a road rally with clues to destinations where team of 4 per car will participate in challenges that are designed to allow the general public to learn some insight and understanding as to the daily living obstacles the differently abled community are forced to contend with. There should be approximately ten stops most of which will have a challenge attached to them such as: Vision Impaired, Fine Motor Skills, Mobility Challenged, Dyslexia, Hearing Impaired, Sensory Issues and so on. We would like for these destinations to stay within the city of Midlothian and not only highlight local the Points of interest, parks and recreations and local businesses supporting our population. The Rally teams’ event will be a combination of Scavenger Hunt, Timed Challenges, Clues to destinations, insight and understanding of the differently abled population in the community. We intend on replicating as many of the challenges as possible at the north parking lot of the community park so that the general public can experience them in as well as the rally teams. As for the rest of the community parks north parking lot we expect to have 52 vendor booths offering their wares with preference given to products created or supporting the population with disabilities. In addition to the vendor booths, we anticipate three food trucks (BBQ, Burgers and Deserts) a DJ Booth, Prize Table/ information booth. The festivities at the park will commence at 10am and close out at 4pm. This is intended to be a family friendly community awareness festival with fun activities for all ages and abilities.
