SUMMARY:Mentor Community Connection
DESCRIPTION:Our Mentor Community Connection event is for our current mentors\, prospective mentors and anyone in the community that is interested in mentoring.  Our keynote speaker is Jonathan Grant Brown\, Jonathan is a community engagement manager for AVID\, a nonprofit training 85\,000 educators annually to close the opportunity gap and prepare students for college\, careers\, and life. As a former high school AVID student from Killeen ISD\, Jonathan has experienced the roles of an AVID student and tutor. Additionally\, he was one of the first AVID instructors in higher education. Jonathan is also a former foster youth\, so he has firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by first-generation students.\n\n\n\nJonathan will share his story and how he has found success through hard work and with the help of teachers and mentors who believed in him.
