SUMMARY:The ChautauQuilt & Art Waxahachie
DESCRIPTION:The ChautauQuilt & Art Waxahachie event will be Sept. 14 at the Chautauqua Auditorium at Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie. This is the first year of the event and it is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free to the public.\n\nOn display will be quilts and art from the two sponsoring groups\, Creative Quilters Guild of Ellis County and the Ellis County Art Association. Both promote art using different mediums.\n\nThe Quilters Guild promotes quilting by teaching\, hosting programs and through small groups. The Guild volunteers to make baby blankets for The Hope Center and First Look as well as fidget quilts for the elderly and youth that have cognitive disabilities. Making dog beds to donate to dog shelters is another of the community service projects.\n\nECAA will show and sell paintings from local artists who are members. The organization hosts member shows as well as the annual Plein Air event which draws artists from as far away as the Netherlands. Many of their paintings are presently on display at the Hamilton at Garden Valley\, 880 Garden Valley Parkway\, Waxahachie.\n\nA car show will also be featured during the event at the park.
