SUMMARY:Walk a Mile in our Shoes
DESCRIPTION:"Walk A Mile In Our Shoes" is an awareness event for The Heights as a new domestic violence resource in Ellis County. We would like to invite you to join us on October 2\, 2021 at the Ellis County Courthouse in Waxahachie.\n\n\n\nThe walk will start at 10AM\, but onsite check-in will begin at 9AM. Please make plans to come early to get checked in and get your T-shirt that will be worn during the event. October is national domestic abuse awareness month and we are coming together to walk a mile around downtown Waxahachie in honor of the over 800 people who are abused by their intimate partner in Ellis County each year. If you know of anyone that has been affected by domestic violence we hope you personalize this event and walk in their honor. \n\n\n\nThere is a tendency in every county to think that this kind of crime does not exist where they live. Even if a community accepts that domestic abuse is a part of their hometown it is common to try to keep it a secret. The Heights is here to uncover this sad reality with a bright light of hope. Our mission is to provide victims of family abuse with streamlined services that guide them to safety and hope.\n\n\n\nThere is a registration fee of $25.00 per person to cover the cost of the event. Any extra funds will go directly toward helping those in the midst of domestic abuse right here in Ellis County."
