20th Anniversary Organ Concert
First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the organ’s installation with a celebration concert on October 12, 2025, at 5:00 pm. The concert will feature our organist, Dr. Hyejung Kim. Dr. Kim was born in Korea and began serving as a pianist for Sunday school at the age of 8. By the time she entered high school, she had received her calling to become a church organist. She attended the Theological University in Busan, South Korea, where she majored in Church music with a focus on organ performance. Her studies brought her to the United States, where she earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Organ Performance from the University of North Texas in Denton. She is currently pursuing a Performance Certificate at UT-Arlington.
Other friends of FUMC’s Music Ministry performing include Dr. Carol Farrar, Linda Weiss, and the FUMC Wind Ensemble.
FUMC’s instrument is a Wicks Pipe Organ, Opus 6428, designed by The Wicks Organ Company in Highland, Illinois. It consists of 3 manuals, 44 ranks, chimes, and Zimbelstern.
Two members of the original organ selection committee, former directors of music Carol Farrar and Gail Harrell, are still active members of the church and will be in attendance at the concert, as well as our Lead Pastor, Adam Spore, who began his appointment at FUMC in July.
The public is invited to attend the concert in our Sanctuary.
