Film Premiere at The Texas Theater: Maisha Bora
"Maisha Bora," the Swahili term for “Better Life," is a film by Tucker Shugart, recent graduate of WHS, in Partnership with RTC Missions, Inc. Come learn about the inspiring and life-changing work being carried out by medical mission teams from Ellis County in Bondo Awino Village, Kenya, East Africa.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Movie begins at 7pm. FREE and open to the public. Popcorn and drinks will be ready for you.
About the film “Maisha Bora”:
On this particular trip, we had doctors and nurses from right here in Ellis County, some of which work for Baylor Scott and White. What an incredible experience to use their healing abilities to bless the lives of our friends in Kenya.
Texas Theater owner, Jon Garrett led groups of women through financial classes to help them learn how to budget and save. He also met with a group of men who struggle with alcohol addiction.
The film was made by Tucker Shugart, 2026 Graduate of Waxahachie High School and member of the CTE A/V Pro class. Tucker is an incredibly talented young man who had never been to Africa before but was able to capture the beauty and heartbreak just the same.
All of this wouldn't be possible without the power of Rotary International, the surrounding clubs that have donated to the efforts of RTC, and private donors. Private funding has been the only stream of income for years, as the government of Kenya cancelled their insurance program. We thank all of you who give!
