Member Spotlight: The Velvet Angel

Amber Adams, owner of The Velvet Angel, opened her boutique in 2004. Adams was already living in Waxahachie but was still working in Dallas.  She wanted to work near home and get to know her community. After her son was born, opening her business in town created an opportunity to spend more time with him.

Adams believes that selection and service sets The Velvet Angel apart from other businesses like it. Adams said, “We strive to be the friendliest store in town! Greeting customers and being available to help with any purchase is our mission! We’re not just here to help with an in-store purchase. We ask our customers if they are local or visiting, which enables us to inform and guide customers to other places of interest in Downtown. We have the largest selection of clothing and earrings in all of Ellis County. We get new shipments daily so there’s always something new. We are proud of our wide array of items including Tyler Candles, Consuela handbags, Burt’s Bees, Yellow Box shoes, Savory Cracker Seasoning, Judy Blue Jeans, 100s of t-shirts and 50+ lines of clothes. Some of our items are edgy & have been known to make customers laugh out loud.”

Adams’ favorite part about owning The Velvet Angel is hearing people’s appreciation for the store, the reaction from customers when they find something they love or makes them laugh, and being able to tell all the visitors about Waxahachie and all the great stores and restaurants we have.

Adams said of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, “The chamber is the best networking tool in town! I’ve met more people from my membership and they’ve become customers and friends.”
