A business’s most valuable assets are its proprietary information, name and reputation.  However, those assets may be used by third parties to the detriment of the business without its consent or any compensation, including waiving any legal rights the business may have to those assets if not properly protected. Patrick Souter of Gray Reed will present on Best Practices in Protecting Business Proprietary Rights and Intellectual Property in the fourth installment of Business Law for the Small Business Owners Series.  The presentation will discuss what constitutes proprietary rights and steps one should take to prevent others from using them including confidentiality and licensing agreements, non-compete and non-solicitation provisions, copyrights, trademarks and patents.  This topic is important no matter the size or type of the business.
