ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
  • Design and develop medium- and low-temperature refrigeration systems and HVACR equipment (split systems, packaged units, heat pumps, fan coils, etc.).
  • Create and update 2D/3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD).
  • Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and structural design principles to meet performance targets.
  • Conduct tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and DFM reviews to ensure manufacturability and quality.
  • Manage lab testing for product validation, agency approvals, and regulatory compliance (DOE, AHRI, ASHRAE, UL, CSA).
  • Oversee prototype builds, analyze test results, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support field trials, troubleshooting, and product/application issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams and maintain development schedules.
  • Lead cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality and drive innovation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–10+ years of HVACR product design, research, or new product development experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of HVACR systems, refrigeration cycles, and heat exchanger design.
  • Familiarity with DOE, AHRI, ASHRAE, UL/CSA standards and compliance processes.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for supplier visits, testing, or field trials.
PREFERRED SKILLS
 
  • Experience with sheet metal design, plastics, tubing/wiring layouts, and complex assemblies.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools (CFD, FEA, thermal modeling).
